Hi there! I'm Kyle Cottrell, a Wedding Photographer based in Beautiful Santa Barbara, CA!

In 2014, I picked up my first camera, and haven't looked back since. I was inspired by the beauty of the Central Coast, and wanted to capture it in the best way that I could. Over time, I became obsessed with having a camera in my hand and made the decision to turn my hobby into something more.

As cliché as it sounds, I like to consider myself not just a Photographer, but a Visual Storyteller. You can often find me in the forest listening to the creaking trees and rustling foliage, by the ocean enjoying the cool breeze and the smell of salt water, or at the top of a mountain on the darkest of nights with the milky way galaxy towering over my head.

I have a very laid-back personality and don't like to take things too seriously. I thrive off of passionate, loving people who are down for an adventure and love going above and beyond. My goal is to capture your love in its truest form, freezing beautiful moments that will last with you for a lifetime. Ultimately, I don't want my relationship with my clients to just feel like a business transaction, I want to connect with you on a personal level and build a lasting friendship.

I am all about storytelling vs fabricated perfection: shooting everything that goes down and giving you a gallery experience that truly feels like how your wedding day looked and felt! After all is said and done, the cake will be eaten, the dress and suit will be put in the closet, the flowers will die. But your photos are going to last you a longer than a lifetime. I urge you to invest in them; invest in these moments! Let’s capture the memorable, the timeless, the intimate.

I would say that my photography style is very natural and true to life. Using prompts to create real life interaction and expressions is how I create candid moments with my couples rather than capturing awkward prom-looking photos and forced smiles. The little in between moments make for the best photos. I want the real stuff, the stuff that’ll make you laugh till your cheeks hurt and will make your heart beat faster. I want to photograph the things that make you who you are, and the things that make your love unique. Because there’s only so many angles and poses and pretty locations, and they’ve all been done before - but what makes each photo special is the memories attached to it, and my goal is to make those unique to you!

my Philosophy

Whether it be a bonfire in the backyard, a pickup game of basketball with friends, or a camping trip under the northern lights in the Canadian Rockies, there's something so therapeutic about being outdoors.

I'm a big music fan, but who isn’t right? Before photography, my dream was to be a famous musician, I even went to school for it, but that obviously didn’t work out. Now I just pick up the acoustic guitar a couple times a month and try and act like I know what I’m doing.

I'm a bit of nerd when it comes to sports. When I'm at home working, I always have ESPN on the background to keep up with everything going on in the sports world.

If you're a Steelers or Angels fan, we'll definitely get along.
